Active and Sporty

Whether you exercise simply to take care of yourself or because you’re a keen amateur or professional, we understand you want to keep your performance and remain injury free. We can work with you whatever your level of fitness.

You may be new to exercise or sport. Or maybe you are starting to exercise again following injury, accident, illness or a length of time where you haven’t been moving very much, such as working too hard.  We can advise on how to pace yourself and build up exercise gently.  We can examine and asses your body, and treat areas which are not moving as they should, making sure that everything is working.  We can offer reassurance that you are capable and safe to do the movements and exercise that you wish to do, which should not be underestimated especially if you have been suffering pain and are worried and fearful that any exercise may make things worse.

If you are already enjoying sport we can help improve your game by:

  • reducing any niggles/ aches and pains you may have
  • looking at technique
  • making sure you don’t have any imbalances in your body by a loss of range of movement, strength or balance

We have experience in looking after: golfers, rugby and football players, tennis players, horse riders, swimmers, cyclist, runners, gym, yogis, to name a few.

If you are competing in competitions / races / tournaments / events we can help you to prepare for these and take care of you afterwards.  If it is during ‘the season’ we will work with you to make sure that you stay injury free and performing well, or if you have an injury, get you back to your sport as soon as possible.

Out ‘of season’ we can work with addressing areas of imbalance that we have both identified, but have not been able to work on during ‘the season’ as it may have reduced your performance which we understand you don’t want at that particular moment.

You may also have had an injury and need to get fit for a particular date, with hands-on treatment and exercises we can help speed your recovery.

At Shefford Osteopathic Clinic, we try to do as we say! Our team is actively involved in exercise themselves, as well as having specific training in sports injuries.

Laura is our sports therapist holding a Masters Degree in the subject, so she most certainly knows her stuff!

Our team of registered osteopaths has a variety of sporting interests and qualifications.
